You’re about to learn how to increase your blog targeted traffic in seven simple ways.

Let’s get started with the first tip “Start working on one strategy, become expert in it and move to another”.

Jumping on strategies without a hands-on approach is not gonna work.

Starting a blog is easy but building it in a profitable way is a hard task. You must do on-page and off-page SEO in the right way.

How And Where To Begin

There is no single area in blogging by improving it you can increase blog traffic. You have to start from scratch to achieve the quality targeted audience.

Knowing SEO, Design of your blog, Content strategy, all the factors play a prominent role to increase your blog traffic.

Once you are ready with your website and content, it is the time to work on increasing your traffic.

7 Best Ways To Increase Website Traffic In 2019

  1. Keyword research
  2. Write detailed content
  3. Build your email list
  4. Be active on Quora
  5. Improve your Internal linking strategy
  6. Social media marketing
  7. Link Building

1. Keyword Research

Everything starts with the keyword.

If you want to get high SEO rankings by getting a more targeted audience, you need to know which keyword can be profitable for you.

As I mentioned earlier, in the beginnings, I was just stuffing the keywords in the content, title, and description.

How did I do it?

By just typing on Google for the keywords.

For example

If I wanted to write on SEO, I’d search for “What is SEO and it’s important”.

And that was not the Keyword research.

So what is Keyword research?

It is the process of finding the keywords of your niche that can bring you the maximum traffic and analyzing the

  • Volume of keyword
  • Total results
  • Keyword competition

How To Find Out The Keywords In The Right Way?

Let’s say you are a beginner who wants to blog about Digital marketing.

You need to prepare a strategy of what to blog and how to start.

For example, If you wish to start a blog on Digital marketing, you need to write down what are the subtopics in it.

Some topics related to Digital marketing are:

  • What is Digital Marketing?
  • Social media marketing
  • PPC
  • Website traffic
  • Link building
  • Email marketing etc

So how you will find the keywords for each topic?

a) SEMrush

It is the first and most preferred tool for millions of bloggers and Internet marketers.

I am using it for 2016 and I just love it.

Why SEMrush Is Important?

Because you don’t want to get hit by Google updates like Panda or Core. Especially, when you make a living out of it.

SEMrush is the best tool that can save you from avoiding link building mistakes.

It helps you understand which keyword is easy to rank and can bring you the traffic. If you are a beginner, I suggest aiming long-tail keywords.

Long-tail keywords have low traffic and are easy to rank compared to short.

Go to Keyword Analytics–>Overview–>Search

Example:- When I search for a keyword “start a blog”, I see the stats of that keyword

  • The volume of 12,100 (Total no. of average searches per month)
  • Total results – 4.2 Billion

There are already 4.2B resources on the Internet about it.

So, as a beginner, it is very hard for you to rank that keyword.

SEMrush keyword research

Instead, what you should do?

You should focus writing article on low searched keyword which has low competition and easy to rank.

For example: “How to make money with a blog for beginners?”

SEMrush Phrase match

Well, that’s all basic idea about it. You’ll probably need to dig a bit deeper to understand its core features and how it can help your site.

It is the best tool you will ever get. If you are not using it already, signup for a FREE 14 days SEMrush Pro using below link:

b) Using LSI keywords

Another beautiful way is LSI keywords.

Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) keywords are related terms to the main keywords.

Let me brief you an example:

Let’s assume you have published a blog post about “Cheap smartphones”

Search engines scan for your page to see if you have used the keyword “Cheap smartphones” in your title, meta description, and content.

But, search engines also can scan your page for LSI keywords like:

  • best budget smartphones
  • cheapest smartphone
  • phones to buy
  • best budget smartphone under 10,000

And when search engines crawl these words they confirm that this article has everything information about smartphones and puts it on the top of the search results.

How To Find LSI Keywords For Any Topic?

Using LSIGraph.

Also, you can use the Google browser. Type “blogging basics” and at the bottom of the results you see some suggested keywords, those are the LSI keywords too.

LSI search results

If I Stuff All The Keywords In My Blog Post?

That’s a good question and the answer is you should not stuff like that.

If you stuff all the keywords in the content, search engines also might consider it as spam content.

How To Use LSI Keyword Strategy In The Right Way?

Simple, If the sentence suits and demands the keyword, use it, if not, don’t stuff the keywords unnecessarily.

2-3% keyword density is good enough.

Also, knowing how your competitors are using this strategy and what is their keyword density percentage will help you to work on your tactics to rank well.

Final Words On Keyword Research

  • Choose the keywords based on the search volume, CPC and traffic that they can bring
  • Research the keywords that your competitors are ranking for
  • Long-tail keywords are important
  • Keyword stuff is bad
  • Write the content around the whole topic, not a keyword

2. Write In-depth Content

When I started back in 2017, I had no idea what is the importance of content. All I knew that to write some content of at least 300-700 words and to add some keywords into it.

I was not focussed on writing detailed content. Very lately, I realized the mistakes I was doing and rectified in no time by focusing on how to write content in an effective way.

So, how to write content?

Search any top keywords of your niche in Google.

The one thing you find in all the articles is “Content density”. They’d all have at least 1500 words in their articles.

Did You Notice That?

Those were the days where you were writing 300-400 word density articles and adding some keywords in it to rank.

Now is not the situation.

You have to write a minimum of 1000 word density articles with quality information.

No need to drag the content for the sake of density.

Believe me, if you start writing 3000 or 4000 words step-by-step articles, you will have more chance to include more accurate data and also have the chance to sell more products.

You don’t have to write 100s of article every month. Even if you write one, make sure it is first class.

Although there are no shortcuts for writing quality content, here are some tips that I can share with you based on my experiences:

a) Write Creative Titles & Headlines

Let’s assume you wrote 4000 words excellent guide on some topic

And you have promoted it but you don’t see reasonable traffic.

What do you think the reason could be?

Title of your article.

There are thousands of articles on the Internet with the same title and descriptions. People have already familiar with such articles, so they are not gonna pay interest to read it.

Try to be more experimental when it comes to the titles and headlines.

According to the Kissmetrics, more than 80% of the users read-only your headlines in the blog post.

If you are not writing great headlines and titles, chances are very low to get conversions. They play a prominent role in determining whether the reader should take action to read or ignore.

You can use title generator tools like HubSpot, Coschedule to generate powerful titles.

b) Be You

Let them know who is behind the blog. Always keep yourself while writing the content.

It’s not gonna easy. Writing anonymously is not gonna work anymore.

Share your experiences, the mistakes you did – how did you rectify those, suggestions. When you talk about them, people start trusting you and when they trust you, they share the content.

And, that’s how your content flows on the Internet.

Write the content like you are having a conversation with the reader for real. Not like another boring blog post.

For Example, Which One Of The Below Sentences Do You Prefer?

  1. I understand the feeling of not making money out of your blog, It hurts. Here, I am to help you out of it.
  2. If you are not making money out of the blog, here is a guide you must read.

Which one did you prefer?

If you’d ask me, I’d prefer choice 1…

It is emotional and gives hope and confidence to resolve my problem.

c) The First Impression Is The Visual Impression

The visual appearance of your site or blog post impacts the reader by:

  • Trust factor
  • Readability
  • Influence

According to Kissmetrics

I believe you started considering infographics importance. Now, let me share you some tips related to visual appeal:

  • Don’t write long paragraphs. Cut the content into smaller contexts not more than 3 or 4 sentences per each paragraph
  • Put important sentences into quotes to add credibility
  • Experiment on font styles, sizes, etc.
  • Use media like Images, videos or Infographics wherever necessary

d) Always Update Your Old Blog Posts or Website Content

Whatever you write today may get old tomorrow.

So never get relax after writing a long blog post. Keep an eye on the niche to find any new updates to include in your content.

Especially, after the Google Panda update, it is mandatory to keep your blog updated with fresh and relevant content.

Why You Should Update Old Blog Posts?

No matter on which subject you produce the content, it is surely gonna old after some time. And, Google doesn’t like the website which is not updated with fresh content.

  • You Are Losing The Money

Let’s say If any reader left your website due to the reason of not finding what he wants.

What does this mean? Simply, you are losing a loyal reader and a chance to get the conversion.

If you have updated the article with new content, the reader might have purchased the product using the affiliate link you have added.

  •  To Keep Yourself Safe From Penalty

After the Google Panda algorithm, Google no more accepts less, irrelevant and no valuable content. If you have any articles with old data and thin content, it is the time to be alert.

  • Update your blog posts with the new accurate information
  • or else remove the whole article if it is not adding any value

In fact, from the past 6 months, I have deleted more than 400 articles from my blog which are old and have no value anymore.

Guess what?

My rankings started changing towards betterment.

  •  To Stay Top On Rankings

Are your articles ranking on 1st page of the Google or as snippets?

What do you think of being on the position? and if someone writes a better post?

You will lose your position and rankings.

So it is essential to update your old articles once in a while.

What You Need To Update

  • Article title, description, and headlines in the content
  • See if any link is broken and fix it
  • Check whether you have used any copyrighted material
  • Use tools like Copyscape to find any duplicate content on your website
  • Look if you can add better sentences
  • Link to relevant authority sites
  • Fix if there are any grammar mistakes using tools like Grammarly

Step 1: You Will Need An Email Tool

You see, there are hundreds of email providers on the Internet.

How do you know which one is good and easy to use?

I have used many FREE and paid tools. However, tools like Drip, Aweber, and Constant Contact are reliable.

Mail Chimp also comes handy if you are a beginner.

It is the perfect software you can trust upon.

Step 2: Increase Your Email List

How do you plan to grow an email list?

If you want someone to signup for:

  1. You should offer some freebies
  2. Write the content that readers want

Offering FREEbies

This is the most used strategy. Most of the eCommerce companies give away 5% or 10% discount on their products when the customer subscriber to their email list.

It is a proven way to get a customer.

As a blogger, what you can offer to the readers.

What you can give away?

  1. Few bloggers create content and make it an eBook(PDF format) to give away to their readers once they subscribe. You can also try it by combining content on multiple topics into one eBook.
  2. If your affiliate links generate more sales then those affiliates offer some % discount for the users who buy from your link.

Try differently and see what works well for you.

Put An Email Signup Option On Your Blog

Readers might forget to look for your signup form. So it is your duty to remind them.

While reading or after reading the article, it reminds your reader to signup if he hasn’t signed up yet.

Something like below

Email Popups

Annoying is the first word that came to your mind?

Yeah, most of us do get that.

But they are effective and generates you the signups.

You don’t have to be annoying by displaying a single large page pop up while the user is reading. It is really a bad idea.

Email tools like Optin monster, Thrive Leads, Bloom work on advance technology like exit-intent so that you get more email subscribers.

When the user tends to exit the article, a pop up appears on the reader’s screen to subscribe with you.

5. Focus On Internal Linking

Internal linking is nothing but adding your relevant old blog post URL into a current blog post.

Most of us forget or neglect to use this strategy. Believe me, this works like a charm and many SEO benefits.

Why Internal Linking Is Important?

Because, these links help your reader to read more relevant content by navigating through your site, which means, helps search engines to crawl your website in a particularly easy and understandable order.

  • Offers a chance to the readers to read the more relevant information
  • Reduce bounce rate by making the reader stay for a long time on your website
  • Make search crawler understands better about your website
  • Brings you more revenue by linking to the high traffic pages

Here Are Some Tips To Create A Better Internal Linking Strategy:

  • Ensure all the links are working
  • Make sure you are not adding excessive links per page/article
  • Relevancy of the link mostly matters
  • Links must open in a new tab, this way the reader doesn’t skip current page
  • Keep the wording, sentence formation and position looks natural
  • Using the keyword in anchor text benefits you as well as the reader

Keep in mind, do Internal Linking for your readers, not for you. Use it to improve your readers’ experience, automatically your website’s SEO goes high.

6. Use Social Media Effectively

When I started my blog, I was too excited to create social media pages to add attractive cover images and other information.

Was it same for you?

If yes, good!

Because social media is the most effective and easy way to get good traffic in the initial period.

Most of the bloggers move on to other strategies and focus less on social media.

Social media strategy should be the long term and consistent one to achieve the results.

As the Internet and smartphones getting cheaper, social media is the hub to find the audience. It is already a big thing if you are not aware of.

Here are some tips to build your brand on social media for high engagement rates.

Optimizing Posts On Each Platform

The thing is every platform has its own way of displaying your post to the public. You have to optimize and work on your posting so that each can be engageable.

For example,

  • If it is a Facebook post, make sure you add a high-quality picture with a link with at least 60 eye catchy words to get more engagement.
  • When it comes to Twitter, along with image and link, adding the relevant and high traffic hashtags will make your post reach to more and more audience.
  • Pinterest – Do not even neglect it. A high-quality image and eye-catchy headline are all that you want to get tons of user traffic.

There are no particular rules to work on social media traffic. Being experimental is the key.

Always experiment on your content type and timing to understand which one is working great for you.

Posting Schedule

What is your schedule of sharing information on social media?

Do you keep any schedule or just randomly?

Keeping a particular schedule to post on social media really helps. Whether it is daily or once in a week, calendar your schedule to post and interact with the audience.

This way, you will get organized with sharing and the readers also start expecting the content from you at that time.

What time does your social media content get more likes, shares, and engagements?

Find an answer to the above question and try to be more experimental according to the results.

Be Interactive

I see that many marketers don’t respond to the queries of the readers; Be it the blog post comments or social media comments.

This is one of the worst ways to lose your loyal audience.

If you start responding to the audience, even a new reader will come to know that you are helping and will become your regular reader.

Here Are Some Tips To Be Interactive With Your Readers

  • Ask them what kind of content they are expecting from you
  • Do not post your blog related stuff every time, post other things too which are useful in your niche
  • If a post is not getting a response, do not immediately repost it – It will look spammy
  • Share the content of other influencers on your pages – This way audience gets trust on you

Apart from these, you can also go to other threads and conversations that are happening in your niche and try to participate in them.

If the audience will get impressed by your words they are more likely to visit your profile and go through your business link to know more about you.
