Increasing your website traffic is the prime goal for most of the marketers.

More the traffic, more the chances for conversions.

If there’s no targeted user traffic to your website and no money, what is the reason to run it?

Do not low yourself if your site has low stats. Every day, thousands of domains are getting registered and websites are being set up. Most of them are gone in a very less amount of time due to lack of traffic.

So it is important for learning how to drive more targeted traffic. That’s why I decided to bring this guide with a list of strategies that I have used for myself.


In this guide, I’ll try to explain ways to increase your website traffic for FREE.

These are not easy and super fast methods. It requires time and patience.

My first suggestion is “Start working on one strategy, become expert in it and move to another”.

Jumping on strategies without giving time to learn and apply is not gonna work.

My rule is 80/20.

I work 80% of my time on promoting my blog posts and 20% on writing.

This doesn’t mean writing is not important, it is. But, it will not be helpful if you don’t take the content to the audience.

Well, then you might not get into the advanced strategies.

First, understand what is SEO, create the pages with the quality content and contact details.

In the beginning, it is very important to focus on design and content before you think of ways to improve traffic.

Once you are ready with your website and content, it is the time to work on increasing your traffic.

5 Best ways to Increase website traffic in 2019

1. Write detailed content

Let me tell you my story.

When I started back in 2017, I had no idea what are the important elements of content. All I knew that to write some content of at least 300-700 words and to add some keywords into it.

I was not focussed on writing in-detailed content. Very lately I realized the mistakes I was doing and rectified in no time by focusing on how to write content in an effective way?

So, how to write content?

Search any top keywords of your niche in Google.

The one thing you find in all the articles is “Content density”. They’d all have at least 1500 words in their articles.

Did you notice that?

Those were the days where you were writing 300-400 word density articles and adding some keywords in it to rank.

Now is not the situation.

You have to write a minimum of 1000 word density articles with quality information.

No need to drag the content for the sake of density.

Believe me, if you start writing 3000 or 4000 words step-by-step articles, you will have more chance to include more accurate data and also have the chance to sell more products.

How to build an effective content marketing strategy

You don’t have to write 100s of article every month. Even if you write one, make sure it is first class.

Although there are no shortcuts for writing quality content, here are some tips that I can share with you based on my experiences:

a) Write creative Titles & Headlines

Believe me, even if you wrote a 5000-word guide and started promoting it on social media with some general title, no one is gonna pay interest to click and read it.

Why should they read it?

There are thousands of such titled articles on the Internet. Is yours is unique or have some additional value?

Show it in the form of title.

According to the Kissmetrics, more than 80% of the users read only your headlines.

If you are not writing great headlines and titles, chances are very low to get conversions. They play a prominent role in determining whether the reader should take action to read or ignore.

You can use title generator tools like HubSpot to generate effective titles.

b) Be you

Let them know who is behind the blog. Always keep yourself while writing the content.

It’s not gonna easy. Writing anonymously is not gonna work anymore.

Share your experiences, the mistakes you did – how did you rectify those, suggestions. When you talk about them, people start trusting you and when they trust you, they share the content.

And, that’s how your content flows on the Internet.

Write the content like you are having a conversation with the reader for real. Not like another boring blog post.

For example, which one of the below sentences do you prefer?

  1. I understand the feeling of not making money out of your blog, It hurts. Here, I am to help you out of it.
  2. If you are not making money out of the blog, here is a guide you must read.

Which one did you prefer?

If you ask me, I prefer choice 1.

It is emotional and gives hope and confidence to resolve my problem.

c) The first impression is the visual impression

The visual appearance of your site or blog post impacts the reader by:

  • Trust factor
  • Readability
  • Influence

  • Don’t write long paragraphs. Cut the content into smaller contexts not more than 4 or 5 sentences per each paragraph
  • Put important sentences into quotes to add credibility
  • Experiment on font styles, sizes, etc.
  • Use media wherever necessary

d) Always update your old blog posts or website content

Whatever you write today may get old tomorrow.

So never get relax after writing a long blog post. Keep an eye on the niche to find any new updates to include in your content.

Especially, after the Google Panda update, it is mandatory to keep your blog updated with fresh and relevant content.

Why you should update old blog posts?

No matter on which subject you produce the content, it is surely gonna old after some time. And, Google doesn’t like the website which is not updated with fresh content.

  • You are losing the money

Let’s say If any reader left your website due to the reason of not finding what he wants.

What does this mean?

If you have updated the article with new content, the reader might have purchased the product using the affiliate link you have added.

It is not the fresh content you are adding, it is the trust factor you are offering.

  •  To keep yourself safe from penalty

After the Google Panda algorithm, Google no more accepts less, irrelevant and no valuable content. If you have any articles with old data and thin content, it is the time to be alert.

  • or else remove the whole article if it is not adding any value

In fact, from the past 6 months, I have deleted more than 400 articles from my blog which are old and have no value anymore.

e) Are Keywords the King-maker?

Who doesn’t want to appear on top in Google SERPs!

To make it happen, you must know what are the profitable keywords in your niche.

As I mentioned earlier, in the beginnings I was just stuffing the keywords in the content, title, and description.

How did I do it?

By just typing on Google for the keywords.

For example

If I wanted to write on SEO, I’d search for “What is SEO and it’s important”.

And that was not the Keyword research.

So what is Keyword research?

It is the process of finding the keywords of your niche that can bring you the maximum traffic and analyzing the

  • Volume of keyword
  • Total results
  • Keyword competition

How to find out the keywords in the right way?

Let’s say you are a beginner who is blogging about Digital marketing.

You need to prepare a strategy of what to blog and how to start.

For example, If you wish to start a blog on Digital marketing, you need to write down what are the subtopics in it.

Some topics related to Digital marketing are:

  • What is Digital marketing?
  • Social media marketing
  • PPC
  • Website traffic
  • Link building
  • Email marketing etc

So how you will find the keywords for each topic?

1. SEMrush

It is the first and most preferred tool for millions of bloggers and Internet marketers.

I am using it since 2017 and I just love it.

Why SEMrush is important?

Because you don’t want to get hit by Google updates like Panda or Core. Especially, when you are earning money out of it.

Sounds risky right?

Yes, it is.

SEMrush is the best tool that can save you from avoiding link building mistakes.

Keyword research

It is nothing but understanding which keyword is popular and profitable. If you are a beginner, I suggest aiming long-tail keywords.

Long tail keywords have low traffic and are easy to rank compared to short.

When I search for a keyword “start a blog”, I see the stats of that keyword

  • The volume of 12,100 (Total no. of average searches per month)
  • Total results – 4.2 Billion

There are already 4.2B resources on the Internet about it.

So, as a beginner, it is very hard for you to rank that keyword.

Instead, what you should do?

You should focus writing article on low searched keyword which has low competition and easy to rank.

2. Using LSI keywords

Another beautiful way is LSI keywords.

Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) keywords are related terms to the main keywords.

Let me brief you an example:

Let’s assume you have published a blog post about “Cheap smartphones”

Search engines scan for your page to see if you have used the keyword “Cheap smartphones” in your title, meta description, and content.

But, search engines also can scan your page for LSI keywords like:

  • best budget smartphones
  • cheapest smartphone
  • phones to buy
  • best budget smartphone under 10,000

And when search engines crawl these words they confirm that this article has everything information about smartphones and puts it on the top of the search results.

How to find LSI keywords for any topic?

Using LSIGraph.

Also, you can use the Google browser. Type “blogging basics” and at the bottom of the results you see some suggested keywords, those are the LSI keywords too.

What if I stuff all the keywords in my blog post?

That’s a good question and the answer is you should not stuff like that.

If you stuff all the keywords in the content, search engines also might consider it as spam content.

How to use LSI Keyword strategy in the right way?

Simple, If the sentence suits and demands the keyword, use it, if not, don’t stuff the keywords unnecessarily.

2-3% keyword density is good enough.

Also, knowing how your competitors are using this strategy and what is their keyword density percentage will help you to work on your tactics to rank well.

Final words on keyword research

  • Choose the keywords based on the search volume, CPC and traffic that they can bring
  • Research the keywords that your competitors are ranking for
  • Long tail keywords are important
  • Keyword stuff is bad
  • Write the content around the whole topic, not a keyword

2. Focus on building a quality email subscribers

Think that,

Right after publishing a blog, what if it reaches to at least 5,000 subscribers and you will get 3,000 links right the moment of publish?

Isn’t it something easy and profitable?

As you are a beginner, I understand the nod of impossible on your face on building a good email subscriber list.

Believe me, it is not as difficult as you think.

Social media and other marketing methods will get you tons of traffic, and your post might get viral in no time.

But what do you do with that traffic?

Smart blogger always turns those users into email subscribers.

Building a loyal and targeted email list will be your smartest tactic ever.

Readers might forget to look for your signup form. So it is your duty to remind them.

While reading or after reading the article, it reminds your reader to signup if he hasn’t signed up yet.

Annoying is the first word that came to your mind?

Yeah, most of us do get that.

But they are effective and generates you the signups.

You don’t have to be annoying by displaying a single large page pop up while the user is reading. It is really a bad idea.

Instead, use smart pop up exit intent strategy. When the user tends to exit, a pop up appears to sign up.

No way this is annoying or disturbing the reader.

  • Reduce bounce rate by making the reader stay for a long time on your website

  • Brings you more revenue by linking to the high traffic pages
